Electric Ionizers
There are numerous ionizers on the market today. Some are copper ionizers and others are copper silver ionizers.  Also available copper, silver, zinc alloy ionizers.

In general terms, ionizers do a good job of killing organic substances in the water but ionization alone is not sufficient to sanitize your swimming pool water. Ionizers still require chlorine or other chemical oxidizer to be added to the water to provide adequate sanitization of the water.

Copper only ionizers are lower in cost. It requires a low .2 ppm chlorine residual maintained in the pool with monthly chlorine shocks. A copper, silver, and zinc alloy ionizer will have a higher initial cost, but cost less over time as the electrodes are large and last about 5 times longer. The electrodes provide superior purification so the pool requires less chlorine with only weekly shocks. This provides superior water quality with chlorine only present in the pool about one day a week.

Salt or Brine Chlorine Generators
Salt generators basically produce chlorine from salt. While salt generators require that you purchase salt instead of chlorine, you are still swimming in chlorine yet will have less problems than you will experience swimming in a chlorine pool.

Your pool naturally contains some salt, but you'll need to add more salt to your pool to bring the salinity level to 5,000 ppm. The salinity of sea water is 7 times stronger, and a tear drop is 1.5 times stronger than the salinity you will be using in your pool. You may be able to taste the salt, but only slightly. It is like swimming in soft silky mineral water. This low salinity level will not harm your pool or filtration equipment.

Salt generators supplied by CBP are for residential pools only. These generators will provide chlorine in pools up to 40,000 gallons. Price includes standard installation and the initial dose of salt, to bring your water to 4000 ppm. These generators come with a power plug, so an electrical outlet must be within 10 feet of the installation. Power consumption is about the same as a 100-watt light bulb.

Ozone Generators
Ozone generators use a special ultra-violet light to kill bacteria. Ozone generators only kill contaminants in the ozone chamber and provide no residual protection to the water in the pool. To be effective, the pool pump must run almost all of the time or be installed with a timer reducing the electric cost. A residual stabilized chlorine level should be maintained. One or two 3" tablets a week should be enough to provide a safe swimming environment with an ozone generator.

Ionization with Oxidation
The ECOsmarte system oxidizes the water using a proprietary technology that develops oxygen directly from the water. The system also provides residual bacteria protection in the pool through the use of ionic copper.
